4th Annual Home Run Pool

On 3/27/2017, we will begin drafting for our 4th annual home run pool for the 2017 Major League Baseball Season. The pool started with just 3 owners, expanded to 5, and is now currently at 7 owners for the 2nd consecutive season. Keepers have already been announced and the biggest question leading into this year’s draft is who will be the next “Golden Boy”, as Brandon would say. Yes I may have let one of the steadily rising stars (Kris Bryant) go 2 seasons ago when it comes to home runs, but it is a new season and there has to be a rookie or two out there worthy of a draft pick. Will certain owners go back to the well and draft players from previous year’s lineups. Drew has always had good results from Yoenis Cespedes, will he draft him early, or will he stick with the “playoff team” approach and go all in on the defending champs and draft Kyle Schwarber in the first round.

In reference to Drew’s playoff team approach, the question that always comes to mind, do you pick up a player on a playoff team and drop a high caliber home run hitter? For example, do you pickup players like Addison Russell or Russell Martin and drop players such as a Nelson Cruz or Mike Trout. The truth is there may not be a right or wrong answer. Just ask Ty how he feels about Addison Russell, he lost his lead heading into the playoffs because of Russell’s pickup. Brandon can now, “out of respect” in his words draft Russell with his last pick, but the looming question then becomes does he drop him, the forever moving around infielder now has 5 home runs this spring.

Stoney will most likely take Bryce Harper with the #1 this year, being that he has 6 home runs this spring and is due for a bounce back year. Even with his down year, last year’s owner Brandon still won even with him only hitting 24 home runs, in which 13 were hit in the first two months. The bigger question everyone has for Stoney is how long will Giancarlo Stanton play and hit moonshot home runs for him this year. Once again Stanton is a favorite to lead the majors in home runs, but to what weight does his GP per year come into play as it does EVERY year. He faltered at the hand of Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers the first year of this draft, catapulting myself to the 1st Annual Home Run Pool Crown. Since that first year, Stanton has only played in 193 games. One thing is for sure though, Stoney will always win the preseason projection home run championship.

Follow along throughout the year to see who will win the 4th Annual Home Run Pool.
