Ex-Lions WR Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Ex-Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young, who played with the team in 2011 and 2012, pleaded no contest to one count of felony battery causing serious bodily injury from an incident that occurred in January 2016 after he left without permission from a court-ordered mental facility in Los Angeles.
Young was drafted in the 2nd round out of Boise State University in 2011. Young had a history of getting into arguments and sometimes fights with opponents, teammates, and even coaches during his brief stint in the NFL. He was arrested twice in the same day in 2013. He was arrested for driving under the influence and then later arrested for trying to break into an impound facility where his car was being kept. Young was arrested again later that week for assaulting a police officer when he was accused of breaking into someone's house. Then in 2014 he was arrested on five counts of battery after attacking his lawyer. He did not go to jail but received five years of probation for the incident.
Young's father told Sports illustrated in 2013 that his son received a concussion that same year and that his behavioral attributes are connected to a brain disorder caused by the concussion that he received.
